Petite Fashion Trends for the 2010 Swimsuit Season

For most petite women finding a swimsuit that is both comfortable and fashionable can be a chore but knowing your body type and what the fashion trends are for 2010 can take away a lot of the headache of shopping for a swimsuit on our great online shopping sites. Whether you are hitting the beach, deciding what to take along on Spring Break, or out by your own backyard pool, having the “perfect” swimsuit will make your fun in the sun that more enjoyable.

One of the hottest trends this year is the cutaway monokinis. This style blends a classic one piece with the fun of a flirty bikini, but as a petite woman look for a monokini more towards a one piece suit rather than a bikini because this will lengthen your body lines.

Another trend we will be seeing a lot of is the one-shouldered swimsuit. The one-shouldered look can be found on the one piece swimsuit or a bikini in solid colors. As a petite woman, chose a solid color that matches your eyes or hair as this will draw the eyes upward. Patterns can also be a good choice but go for small repeating patterns, not large patterns, and vertical stripes instead of horizontal for that elongating look.

Swimsuits are not just for swimming. If socializing and soaking up the sun are high on the list of things to do on the beach or at that resort, finding the right accessories for your swimsuit can be just as important as picking out the right swimsuit. A sheer cover up is must have this year and can dress up any swimsuit and be just what you need to make last year’s suit “new” again.

Another look to accessorizing your swimsuit in 2010 is the bohemian fashion trend. To achieve this look, find Russian inspired, gypsy, and folk pieces that can be used as cover ups in pastel pink and blue colors. Use bright colored coin/charm jewelry as accent pieces.

But whatever swimsuit or accessories you decide to choose let comfort and fashion be your guide. Don’t forget the sunscreen!

Look your best

When we get dressed we all want to look our best, so here is some flattering advise. If you have a larger bottom, wearing jeans with big back pockets will make your back side look smaller.

If you have skinny, stick legs, stay away from fitted legged pants and leggings and wear straight legged or boot cut pants.

If you do not have tight abs or a flat tummy, stay away from low rise shorts or pants. They will push any extra skin up, especially when sitting, and give you what is called a "muffin top". If you have made this mistake, cover it up with a loose fitting top around the waist. For these tummies I recommend wearing pants that lay at your waist. I know it's difficult to find sometimes but they are out there. Happy shopping ladies!

Fall and Winter Trends of 2008-2009

For fall and winter trend of 2008-2009 color is the key! The feature colors are purple and red and all of their variations. Jewel tones, bold brights - orange, coral, pink, red, emerald green, amethyst purple and Peridot green are the key trend colors to wear this Autumn. Who would have thought the Red Hat Ladies were stylin' ? I'm not sure if you want to wear those colors together but if you need a new festive top or some accessory jewelry, purse, or shoes to update your wardrobe go with bold bright colors.

If you still love your black go with black on black texture and add a little something that shines. You can wear a matte black with a shiny or velvety black.

Ankle boots are all the rage this season. Wear them with skirts , pants, or jeans.

Fall and Winter Trends of 2007

Colors
Are you tired of wearing pink? The new fall fashion colors this season are grey, black, white, charcoal, earthen brown, ochre and rust tones, red, burgundy, purple, plum, deep blue, and khaki olive.

Leg Wear
Do you remember those leg warmers from the 80's? Well, they are back. I highly recommend that us petite women do not participate in this trend since our legs are already shorter than the average. We don't need something else making our legs look even shorter. Leggings, knee socks, opaque colored or textured tights are also in style. If you choose to wear nude colored pantyhose make them super sheer or better yet super sheer with some shine. Wearing the leggings, opaque colored or textured tights gives you more use of your mini skirts in the colder weather.

Layering
There are so many tops that are super low cut and some of you women have to wear a tank top underneath so you don't expose too much. To those women, you are in luck because layering tops is also the trend. Wearing a sheer top over an opaque top is particularly in style.
