Cardigans are one of the most popular items for the fall and winter seasons, and they are flying off the shelves! The cardigan is a fabulous piece of clothing because of the versatility and comfort it brings to any wardrobe. Not only does it add warmth but it also adds style and sophistication to your business ensemble or dinner dress.
Cardigans come in so many different colors and styles, the possibilities are limitless. The new details such as, flower appliqués or crystal buttons, add a subtle feminine touch to the classic sweater. Don’t be afraid of color! Although it is nice to have the standard black cardigan, step out of the box and try a “hottest-color-of-the-season” purple button up sweater.
Petite woman should make the cardigan sweater a close friend, but remember a few helpful tips while shopping. Look for a cardigan that gives the illusion of a longer neck line. A v-neck would be good or leave the regular button-up cardigan unbuttoned. Pair the sweater with long necklaces or scarves to elongate the body and give the appearance of a taller you. Any design that has vertical lines is a great choice. Cable-knit is a popular example. A zip-up cardigan is also a flattering sweater for a petite woman, leaving it half-way unzipped. A skinny belt would also be a fantastic accessory to add to your cardigan, emphasizing the smallest part of your body.
Colors are also something important for petite woman to remember. Don’t wear anything with a large print or design. Keep it simple by wearing monochromatic colors. If you have a purple sweater, pair it with a pair of dark pants. Or if you are wearing a lighter colored top, pair that with a lighter color pant. This helps the body look longer and leaner because it is not being broken up
in pieces by drastically different colors.
